Socks has gone to his forever home! Black Cat Rescue is pleased to announce the adoption of Socks.
Socks came to BCR as a young, cute cat who was terrified of dogs. He is a playful, friendly guy and did great in foster care except for one thing- he’s a biter! Foster Volunteer Nadja found that Socks didn’t have great manners when it came to this razor sharp feline teeth! Socks had a tendency to bite people while interacting and playing with them. He didn’t do it maliciously or to deliberately inflict real harm, he just didn’t realize how painful and unpleasant his pointy teeth are on an unprotected arm or hand. Nadja worked with him, but it was slow going.
This was Socks’ only problem. He’s a playful, loving young cat that would make an amazing companion, except when he gets carried away with his teeth. It’s understandable that he isn’t the right cat for every household. Socks had a few adoption visits, and though they were always warned about his bad habits their response was always, “He really bites HARD!”
Kyle contacted Black Cat Rescue to find a new friend for herself and her husband. Their cat passed away in April, and enough time had passed, it was time for new life in their household. Once again, we warned of Socks’s biting, but they wanted to meet him in person to see how they felt about him. After the visit Kyle wrote that “Socks does bite quite hard…” but that she and her husband wanted to adopt him! They will continue working with him on this and we anticipate that he will mellow with age.
Congratulations to Kyle and her family– especially Socks!
