Black Cat Rescue is very very pleased to announce the adoption of Shadow!
Here at Black Cat Rescue, we value our dignified, senior companions as much as the silly, spritely kittens. In spring and summer, large volumes of kittens are born and their cute and cuddliness makes it easier for adoptive homes to overlook or miss out on older cats. To help senior cats find forever homes during “Kitten Season,” we launched Senior Season. The adoption donations of each of the BCR seniors has been sponsored by a generous individual who believes in seniors.
Senior Season Success!
Shadow came to Black Cat Rescue as a fun and friendly 16 year old! He spent his first 16 years learning to be a nearly perfect pet with a single family, but had to leave his former home as his owner got on in age and was unable to care for him properly.
Shadow is active, playful, and chatty. Taking into account Shadow’s super friendly and easy-going manner, Shadow’s foster mom tried out a harness on him– not a situation many senior cats would take to! But Shadow loved it! He was rocking and rolling all over his foster mom’s yard and enjoying the sunshine direct from the source from the safety of a harness. To top it off, Shadow is also incredibly loving and seems most content when he is laying on a person.
Upon arriving at Black Cat Rescue, Shadow visited the vet where BCR learned he has hyperthyroidism and minor kidney disease. Daily medications and a special diet have had his medical issues very manageable, and should not prevent Shadow from finding a loving home to live out his golden years.
To help BCR in finding a home for Shadow, a very special cat lover stepped up to sponsor Shadow. This sponsorship covered not only Shadow’s adoption donation, but included a sustaining contribution to help BCR cover the costs of Shadow’s ongoing medications.
Roseann contacted Black Cat Rescue to find a new companion. When Roseann met Shadow in early June, it was love at first sight! Shadow is such a friendly guy, it took no time at all to hypnotize Roseann into taking him home with her. After going home, it’s been awesome. Roseann let us know that Shadow follows her everywhere and takes his medication like a champ.
We are so happy to share this particular adoption with the Black Cat Rescue supporters. Stories like Shadow’s really highlight the possibilities that exist for senior cats, even those that other shelters may label as unadoptable! All it takes is a few dedicated volunteers, one special sponsor, and a loving adopter like Roseann to give an exceptional elder like Shadow a beautiful retirement.
Congratulations to Shadow and Roseann!
